From the initial stages of the vision that led to the founding of Word Life Christian Fellowship, an area of focus has always been to reach out to orphans and other children who do not have the privilege of growing up in a loving home with their parents. Without a loving, supportive environment, many children, filled with potential, end up becoming victims of their circumstances, rather than victors over those circumstances.
Over the past several years, our founder, Rodrick Walters, has become a passionate advocate for children. A father of three, he recognizes the importance of a loving father and mother in the lives of children. In many cases, for different reasons, children do not have the privilege of having the loving support of their parents as they go through the different stages of life.
In the case of orphans, these children are particularly vulnerable. Without a mother or father to help guide them, many orphans see life as an ever-present obstacle that they can never overcome. For this reason, Word Life Christian Fellowship is committed to improving the lives of orphans by helping to build orphanages and supporting those who already care for orphans.
Mombasa Children’s Provision Project
We have established a relationship with Mombasa Children’s Provision Project, based in Mombasa, the third largest city in the East African nation of Kenya. Led by Rev. Barnet Kapten, who, along with his wife Margaret have supported and mentored orphans for over three decades, this ministry is doing a great work in the lives of orphans. Through their efforts, many have gone on to lead successful lives, with advanced college degrees and raising families of their own.
The Mombasa ministry opportunity is of particular significance because the organization with which we are partnering has already acquired a parcel of land. We are committed to partner with them in the building of an orphanage on the land – one that not only provides a safe, loving environment for boys and girls to grow but one that also teaches them life skills to become responsible, productive members of society.
